Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Operation Resource

Good Shepherd Barrington, IL Clinical Operations Resource Registered Nurse Per Diem Night shift, some PM shifts, holiday and weekend shifts. BSN required. At least four years’ inpatient/acute care nursing experience. Previous charge nurse or leadership experience. The Clinical Operations Resource RN assists the Manager of Staffing Effectiveness in providing administrative and clinical leadership on all shifts. The Nursing Clinical Operations Resource Nurse plans, coordinates and manages personnel and resources to provide the highest quality patient care with trained, professional and competent staff in the most cost-effective manner. In conjunction with the manager, the RN collaborates with physicians and other health care disciplines to assure optimal patient care and facilitates safe, effective and efficient patient throughput and placement. Major Responsibilities Work with the Patient Command Center to coordinate staffing for safe and efficient patient throughput and global distribution of resources. Oversee operational efficiency and utilization of labor resources for the assigned shift in collaboration with unit-based charge nurses to meet HPPD and LCE targets. Participate in daily safety and capacity huddles. Make staffing recommendations and assignments at competency levels determined by state law, hospital policy, and regulatory agencies. Solicit feedback on customer needs through ongoing assessments and rounding, sharing findings and suggestions for improvement with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Develop, implement and track results of quality improvement activities contributing to overall quality of care, KRA goals and regulatory requirements. Understand departmental productivity measures and use monitoring, data reports, technology and assessment tools to assess work hour and labor cost efficiency. Gather, record, and respond to staffing needs according to fluctuations in census, updating the schedule as needed. Provide correspondence with outside agencies for the management of agency resources when necessary. Address problems and conflicts arising between patients, families and health care providers. Respond to patient and family needs in times of stress or crisis. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. Respond to and resolve patient, customer, and associate complaints in a timely manner. Review customer satisfaction survey results; set improvement targets and implement appropriate action plans. Hold associates accountable for customer service standards. Act as primary contact for incidents requiring emergency response, mobilizing resources in accordance with hospital protocols. Participate as a member of the incident command team during hospital-wide emergencies. Provide a structure to support associates in delivering quality care by establishing standards, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory agencies. Continuously benchmark staff performance and engage in professional development opportunities. Support team member engagement by mentoring new staff, identifying future leaders, and encouraging a culture of safety and innovation. Act as a resource person to staff for patient care problems, assisting in defining approaches and obtaining additional expert help. Initiate disciplinary action according to hospital policy when necessary. Identify and pursue own career advancement and leadership development opportunities. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required Nurse, Registered (RN) Specialty certification per hospital requirements. Board Certification strongly encouraged within 2 years. Education/Experience Required BSN required. At least four years’ inpatient/acute care nursing experience. Previous charge nurse or leadership experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Strong clinical skills. Problem solving and analytical ability. Exceptional communication skills. High level of customer service skills. Utilization of critical thinking in timely decision making. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Resiliency and flexibility to handle a changing environment. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers. Commitment to patient safety, care, and outcomes. Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests. Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-constrained environment and navigate difficult situations. May be exposed to hazardous materials and body substances. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use patient handling equipment for heavier lifts as needed.
