CASE MANAGER 1 - PHASE 1 CLIENTS Drop-In Center Mission: The Landing's mission is to serve survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation with a trauma-informed approach, fueled by the love of Christ. POSITION OVERVIEW Reports to: Drop-In Center Manager Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt The Case Manager 1 provides direct, trauma-informed services to Phase 1 clients - individuals in the earliest stages of engagement who are seeking basic stabilization and support. The primary goal is to assist clients in meeting immediate needs while increasing safety, stability, and readiness for ongoing services. The Case Manager 1 builds trust and helps clients navigate complex systems of care. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Engagement: Build meaningful rapport through consistent presence, empathetic listening, and a nonjudgmental approach; encourage participation in Drop-In Center services and classes; foster a welcoming and safe environment; and help clients understand the Phase system and pathway to long term support. Case Management & Stabilization: Provide individualized case management focused on basic needs and early stabilization. Complete Crime Victims' Compensation (CVC) applications with clients. Maintain regular contact, assess immediate needs, adjust service plans, utilize trauma-informed practices, assess safety, and provide crisis intervention and emotional support. Housing & Benefits: Schedule and coordinate housing assessments and referrals for emergency, transitional, or long-term shelter. Assist clients in obtaining government documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, and Texas identification cards. Support clients with SNAP benefits, Gold Card applications, and other vital resources. Health, Behavioral Health & Legal Support: Facilitate access to counseling, mental health evaluations, substance use recovery support, medical care, STI/STD testing, and legal referrals. Ensure warm hand offs and appropriate follow-through. Transportation & Practical Support: Provide transportation to critical appointments when appropriate and assist clients in overcoming barriers to accessing essential services. Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date records in the case management database. Program Support: Support smooth daily Drop-In Center operations by monitoring the space and intervening when challenges arise. Facilitate or co-lead life skills or educational classes tailored to Phase 1 clients. Collaboration & Outreach: Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to ensure comprehensive support; participate in outreach and after-hours on-call rotation as needed; and represent The Landing at community events, meetings, and presentations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and de-escalate tense situations. Understanding of complex trauma, poverty, addiction, homelessness, and systems of oppression. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and appointments. Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining ethical and professional boundaries. Knowledge of social service systems, community resources, and public benefit programs. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field required; Master's degree preferred. LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or related license/certification preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. At least one year of relevant experience working with high-risk or vulnerable populations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
