Clinical Development Medical Director, Early Development Oncology

Amgen seeks a Clinical Development Director to lead early-phase oncology trials from first-in-human through proof-of-concept studies. The role involves designing clinical strategies, developing protocols and regulatory submissions, analyzing safety and efficacy data, and collaborating across research, development, and commercial teams. Requires MD/DO and 2+ years of clinical research experience; oncology board certification and advanced drug development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead early-phase clinical development of oncology compounds from first-in-human through proof-of-concept
• Develop clinical strategies, protocols, informed consents, and regulatory submissions for trial candidates
• Review and analyze clinical safety, efficacy, pharmacodynamic, and pharmacokinetic data
• Collaborate across internal teams and external experts to guide oncology development strategy
• Evaluate external licensing and partnering opportunities within oncology therapeutic areas

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from accredited medical school
• Minimum 2 years industry or academic clinical research and drug development experience
• Oncology board certification or eligibility preferred
• 3+ years relevant drug development experience in pharma or academia, preferably early-stage trials
• Experience designing, monitoring, and implementing clinical trials
• Demonstrated leadership and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
• Strong communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders
