Job Description
Job Title: Anesthesia Technician

Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech preferred
License: BLS Certification required


Certifications: Preferred certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body


Must-Have:
- Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech
- BLS Certification


Description:
Under limited direct supervision, assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia.
Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival.
Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment.
Ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Set up medications and supplies where applicable.
Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day.
Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters.
Operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports.
Participate in advanced surgical cases, including cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma cases.
Work directly with service-specific faculty Division Chief of designated specialty.
Provide on-call coverage as needed.
Ensure that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order and that preventive maintenance is completed.
Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting.
Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment.
Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs.
Assist in training staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.
Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors.
Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiber optic bronchoscopes to the video monitor.
Set up rooms between cases and provide full service setup at the end of the day.
Collaborate with other units to ensure availability of specialized equipment.
Perform setup and support for out-of-OR procedures ensuring proper equipment is in place.
Provide backup to shift supervisor in their absence.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Operations Manager.
