IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Pasadena, CA. Over 10-12 weeks, you’ll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants.

This role supports budget-aware project delivery, cross-functional coordination, and accurate project documentation across commercial and institutional work, while contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050. You’ll help research project resources, document design progress, support project goals and client expectations, and participate in periodic job site observations.

What You'll Do

• Assist with structural system design for building projects in accordance with applicable codes and company standards
• Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems in buildings and other structures
• Research project resources and gather information to support design tasks
• Help maintain project documentation, including design notebooks and permanent record files
• Coordinate design activities and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier teams
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement
• Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations

What You'll Bring

Required Education and Experience

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

About the Team

• California structural team with a portfolio dominated by acute-care and hospital seismic work, including HCAI evaluations, NPC-4D/SPC-4D compliance, and renovation support.
• Also supports civic, education, hospitality, and mixed-use projects, but the current workload is led by healthcare structural upgrades and construction administration.
• Recent work includes Hoag Newport Beach SPC4D Upgrade Inpatient Tower, Healthcare, and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas CP-2 Construction Administration, Healthcare.

State of California Pay Range: $22.00 –$24.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
