Details Medical Oncology unit with progressive care beds and telemetry monitoring, occasionally caring for pediatric patients 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of care Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses Staffing ratios are approximately 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU 12-hour Day (7:00-19:30) or Night (19:00-7:30) shifts on a 3x12 schedule, with possible rotation between days and nights based on department needs Weekend shifts are variable Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience within the last 12 months, with at least 1 year of PCU experience Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Teaching hospital experience preferred Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, rapid response team use, feeding tube management, port access, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, chest tube management, external CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management Preferred skills include dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, wound care/wound vac, arterial line management, surgical drains, and non-invasive airway management 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Provide high-acuity PCU-level nursing care with a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Pediatric patients are occasionally cared for on the unit but are primarily managed by permanent staff; pediatric experience is not required Oncology experience preferred but not required Come with a willingness to learn and grow your nursing practice First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted at the same rate Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less All candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as they sign their contract due to strict compliance timelines American Traveler Job ID P-735949.
