Anesthesia Technician

We are seeking an Anesthesia Technician to join the Wilmington, Delaware team. The technician provides technical support to the anesthesia team in preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of anesthesia care to patients. This role involves assisting anesthesiologists, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room (OR) and other procedural areas. The technician is responsible for setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment. Schedule: 40 hours per week, 10am-6:30pm, with eventual call. Responsibilities Setup, calibrate, and ensure functionality of anesthesia machines, monitors, ventilators, and other related equipment before procedures. Perform routine checks and maintenance on anesthesia equipment to ensure safety and readiness. Sterilize and prepare instruments and supplies needed for anesthesia, including airway management devices, syringes, and IV equipment. Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia. Provide support during intubations, central line insertions, regional blocks and other related procedures. Monitor inventory levels and restock anesthesia supplies in ORs, procedure rooms, and emergency carts. Set up IV fluids and tubing; set up fluid warmer units for use during transfusion; set up ultrasound with patient info and assist with regional blocks; set up scopes/video laryngoscopes and assist as needed. Assist in positioning patients for anesthesia and surgery. Monitor patient vitals under direction of anesthesia providers. Respond to intraoperative emergencies by assisting with preparation and delivery of medications, fluids, and other interventions. Safety and Compliance Follow all safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and regulatory standards related to anesthesia care. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials, including anesthetic gases and sharps. Maintain accurate records of equipment checks, maintenance, repairs and supply expirations. Communicate effectively with the anesthesia team, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in preoperative and postoperative briefings and debriefings. Provide input on process improvements and best practices for anesthesia support. Stay updated on new equipment, techniques, and best practices in anesthesia technology. Participate in continuing education opportunities and certification programs. Qualifications High School Diploma required. Associate degree or completion of an accredited anesthesia technology program preferred. American Heart Association BLS required. Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) preferred. 1‑2 years of experience as an anesthesia technician, or in a related field, preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr Nemours Children's Health
