Summary About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the St. Louis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Works closely as an integral member of the regional public affairs team, exercising responsibility to plan for and execute regional communications strategies for agency policies and programs within the District's area of operations. This position is eligible for situational telework. This position is NOT a full-time telework position. Learn more about this agency Duties Help
- Gathers or shoots video, photographs, and artwork/graphics for inclusion in publications, exhibits, websites, speeches, and event support and other Public Affairs uses to communicate District mission stories.
- Creates and maintains a robust, timely and dependable District internal news and information delivery method and intranet site as state-of-the-art channels to disseminate command messages to employees with up-to-date, accurate and relevant content.
- Responds to media inquiries, formulates full, accurate replies, and meets individual media deadlines and needs.
- Supports the District's "social media" program, identifying opportunities and evaluating applicability to support the District's communication efforts in reaching targeted audiences.
- Utilizes knowledge of District missions and projects to identify and pursue innovative ways to provide important agency information to the public.
- Plans and executes informational campaigns about successful missions or projects via the web/social media and other external and internal outlets.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- TDY travel expected up to 25% annually.
- Overtime may be required on short notice. Incumbent may be required to work extended and/or irregular hours to include weekends.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license.

- This is a pay banded position. The NH-02 band encompasses grades GS-05 through GS-11 under the General Schedule (GS) system.

- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position may require a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
