Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Information Security Oversight Unit, the incumbent will perform the role of Risk Management Associate and will be a key contact for reviewing IT systems and ensuring their security. In this role, the position will assist with research, planning, and organizing a variety of Information Security projects at the Franchise Tax Board (FTB), including shaping and enforcing security policies.

Working Conditions

• This position requires 4 or more days in the office per week. It is designated office-centered and may be eligible for some remote work based on departmental guidelines and operational need.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to clearly demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications and Alternate Range Placement for the position on your State Application (STD Form 678). • Familiarity with tools and solutions for managing risks and ensuring compliance
• Experience reviewing and evaluating the security plans for IT systems
• Network/System/Application experience
• Experience working in information security domains
• Experience in Risk Management
• Experience with app security policies and standards
• Experience communicating security-related concepts
• Understanding of ways to manage risks and programs designed to reduce security threats
• Knowledge of design and setup of FTB’s networks, systems, and applications is a plus
• Knowledge about how artificial intelligence tools are used and how they work
• Awareness of policies, standards, and procedures that guide information security across the organization
• Experience following national and state guidelines for cybersecurity, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), State Administrative Manual (SAM), and Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM)
• Ability to work well with teams made up of people from different backgrounds and specialties
• Can handle several tasks at once and stay calm when things get busy
• Strong skills in analyzing problems, finding solutions, staying organized, and managing time effectively
• Security certification in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Security + preferred
