Electrical Test Technician – Key Responsibilities

• Perform electrical testing on switchboards and power distribution equipment, including dielectric, mechanical operation, and control wiring tests.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with UL 891, NEC, and customer specifications.
• Document test results, inspection findings, and quality records accurately.
• Monitor production activities to verify adherence to approved designs and quality standards.
• Identify quality concerns, investigate root causes, and support corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical and quality issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Maintain and verify calibration of testing and inspection equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Execute customized testing requirements based on specific switchboard configurations.
• Assist with additional production, quality, and engineering-related tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Associate degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience testing industrial electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of UL 891, NEC, and electrical safety standards.
• NETA certification or similar electrical testing certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment such as Hi-Pot testers and multimeters.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory, power distribution systems, and component functionality.
• Experience with quality control processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with inspection and testing methods, including:
  • Dielectric testing
  • Insulation testing
  • Torque verification
  • Dimensional inspection
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, manufacturing documents, and test procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E standards is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, reach, grip, and handle tools/components throughout the workday.
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling up to 60 lbs with or without accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
