Job Title Mental Health Specialist – Harborview Medical Center’s 5‑MB Psych ICU Work Schedule 32 hours per week Night Shift Department Description Psychiatry Intensive Care Unit – Harborview’s 5‑Maleng Building. Primary Job Responsibilities Respond to Code Gray alerts and other crises by securing patients, supporting staff, and following charge nurse directives. Complete crisis intervention/prevention training and apply techniques as needed. Assist with patient assessments, discharge planning, and documentation. Conduct safety checks on patient belongings and visitors to remove hazardous items. Participate in patient rounds, suicide assessments, and monitor for behavioral changes. Notify nursing staff of patient distress or changes in demeanor. Deliver court‑related notices and assist patients with legal paperwork. Support patients through court‑mandated treatment processes and advocate for their care. Provide basic physical care and perform tasks delegated by RNs. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and document care in the electronic medical record. Requirements Bachelor’s degree and one year as a Mental Health Specialist I, or equivalent; education can be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Valid/Active Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) or Nursing Assistant Registration (NAR) with the state of Washington; credential number required on resume.
