Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-acuity Level II Trauma facility, requiring TNCC and a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience.

Details

• 71-bed Emergency Department functioning at a Level I capacity with very high acuity Level II Trauma designation
• Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratios: 1:4 (ER), 1:5 (MS Holds), 1:3 (ICU Holds), with CNA support at 1:12
• Unit support includes charge nurses, receptionist/HUC, phlebotomy (until 0300), IV/VAT team, and hospitalists
• EMR: Cerner; IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Spacelabs
• Shift options: 7a–7p, 7p–7a, 11a–11p, or 3p–3a (12-hour shifts)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend, or 4 weekend days per month on a block schedule
• No floating required; no on-call responsibilities
• 4-week scheduling cycle
• Holiday coverage expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per facility policy

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER, or MS Hold), with the most recent year in a Level II or higher ER
• Level II Trauma or higher experience required
• Cerner or Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers; preferred for experienced travelers
• Proficiency in: trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, Foley catheter, splint/orthopedic device application, BiPAP/high-flow oxygen, and continuous bladder irrigation
• SSN, DOB (day and month), one reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months, and copies of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply with at least 2 years of experience in a Level II or higher ER and Cerner or Epic experience
• Travelers new to the facility or returning after 1+ year will complete 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours of on-unit orientation
• Returning traveler orientation requirements may vary based on time since last assignment at the facility
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler at this facility
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Significant RTO blackout dates are in place throughout the year, including the entire month of March, major holidays, and associated holiday weekends — specific dates change annually
• Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, excluding blackout dates
• Scrubs: any solid color permitted
