VOLUNTEER CAMP KITCHEN STAFF (CAMP KIRKWOOD)

POSITION SUMMARY : At Camp, we are looking for active, friendly, and confident nurses to work with our campers and staff. We have 200+ campers and 25+ staff members at Camp Kirkwood for one-week periods. During a normal week, we will have a nurse to provide medical administration and general triage. Camp Kirkwood nurses commit to one-week periods during the summer from Sunday to Friday. This week includes two check-ins and one check-out for campers.

POSITION TYPE: Volunteers, Seasonal with room and board provided. One camper attends Overnight Camp at no charge ($775 value)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performing preparation duties cooking for hot and cold meals
• Maintain the cleanliness of Dining Hall and food service areas
• Wrapping, date-labeling, and storing food items.
• Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station.
• Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
• Serving customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner.
• Complying with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.
• Minimum of 1 yr. experience preparing food for large groups.
• Desire and ability to work with children.
• Track record of being reliable and dedicated to service.

• Must be able to provide a physical exam by a medical provider
• Must be able to see, hear, and speak clearly.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must be in good health, able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, climb and work outside in all terrain and weather conditions for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate written and or verbal instructions.
• Comfortable working outdoors, heights and around water.
