Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within Radiation Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. The Temporary Research Assistant position is designed to assist lab staff in research and technical activities in Dr. Feng's lab. Under supervision and at the direction of senior lab members and the PI, the incumbent will be involved in and assist with research and technical operations related to assisting in design and execution of experiments, preparation of submission and publication materials, and learning appropriate scientific methods and procedures. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within Radiation Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Works under the direction of PI and senior lab members. Assists with routine tasks related to cellular and mouse experiments and laboratory projects that are proposed in the grant(s), with specific focus on the function of the p53 pathway in tumorigenesis and the regulation of the p53 pathway under the direction of the principal investigator and other senior lab members. Specifically, incumbent will be involved in and assist with research and technical operations related to the role of combination and gene inhibitor therapy and research and technical activity related to breast cancer tissue microarrays.
- Operates and maintains proficiency in computer systems, equipment, and technology to support projects.
- Prepares and communicates summaries of scientific research processes, data, and project findings, and contributes to the preparation and submission of grants and publication of scientific research papers/articles/manuscripts.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Demonstrated ability to follow laboratory safety policies and perform simple laboratory procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to learn laboratory database for data entry work. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is also essential.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Biological Science or related degree preferred.
- Previous experience in laboratory techniques including molecular biology, cell biology and tissue culture experiments is preferred.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory work environment, with moderate noise. Exposure to biological specimens (cells, blood, tissues etc.) with possible exposure to infectious diseases, exposure to hazardous chemicals including therapeutic drugs. Laboratory environment operates under mandatory universal safety precaution.
