Coordinator Shift Leader

A shift coordinator at Chick-fil-A is an emerging leader responsible for leading daily shift operations while creating an exceptional experience for both guests and team members. This position focuses on executing operational excellence through effective shift management, team member training, customer concern resolution, and supporting restaurant development by leading assigned TAG teams. Shift Coordinators are trusted to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operation while modeling Chick-fil-A's values and culture. They lead by example, communicate confidently, and offer real-time advice to ensure operational standards are consistently met. This position serves as a primary development role for future Team Leaders and Assistant Managers, developing strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. While Shift Coordinators primarily focus on execution during their shifts, they are expected to collaborate closely with Team Leaders and Assistant Managers to support restaurant objectives and create a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Vision and Purpose Alignment

Customer Experience

• Assign shifts to ensure exceptional hospitality, food quality, and operational execution.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for guest concerns, complaints, and recovery opportunities during the shift.
• Resolve guest issues professionally while creating memorable recovery experiences.
• Supervise restaurant operations to ensure speed of service, accuracy of orders, cleanliness, and food quality standards.
• Coordinate communication between Front of House and Back of House to maintain smooth operations.
• Make real-time operational decisions to protect the guest experience.
• Support Winning Hearts Every Day initiatives through consistent execution.

Sales and Brand Growth

• Apply Chick-fil-A brand standards consistently.
• Support limited-time offer (LTO) launches and promotional initiatives.
• Foster accuracy in orders, hospitality, and efficient service to enhance customer satisfaction and restaurant performance.
• Help maximize performance during peak periods through strong shift execution.
• Open, operate, or close the restaurant successfully according to established procedures.
• Direct team members throughout the shift by assigning roles, communicating priorities, and adjusting deployment as business needs change.
• Monitor restaurant flow and proactively respond to bottlenecks.
• Ensure operational checklists, food safety procedures, and cleanliness standards are completed.
• Maintain awareness of overall restaurant performance throughout the shift.

Financial Management

• Follow established procedures that minimize food waste and labor inefficiencies.
• Protect company assets through proper handling of food, equipment, and supplies.
• Make responsible operational decisions that balance guest experience with efficiency.

Leadership

• Guide team members through positive influence, encouragement, and accountability.
• Conduct real-time coaching conversations that reinforce expectations and recognize great performance.
• Hold respectful and documented coaching conversations when performance or behavior requires correction.
• Build trust through consistent communication and servant leadership.
• Maintain professionalism when addressing conflicts and difficult situations.
• Support shift communications ensuring team members understand daily priorities and expectations.
• Collaborate effectively with team leaders and managers to ensure successful shift execution.

Talent

• Support the onboarding and integration of new team members.
• Assist in the training and development of team members in Chick-fil-A operational procedures and standards.
• Foster continuous learning and personal growth among team members.
• Recognize individual successes and celebrate team achievements.
• Identify team members who demonstrate leadership potential and communicate observations to management.

Skills and Experience Required

• Successful completion of the Talent Coach role for a minimum of 3 months.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and positive influence among peers.
• Strong knowledge of Chick-fil-A operational standards.
• Ability to confidently lead team members during high-activity shifts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to guide others with both encouragement and accountability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to work 25+ hours per week.
• Positive and growth-oriented mindset.
• Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for up to 8.5 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Reliable transportation.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
