Position

Principal or Senior Principal Software Engineer – Guidance Navigation Control (GNC)

Location: Woodland Hills, CA. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel: 10% of the time.

U.S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and debug software for cutting‑edge navigation systems.
• Perform software and system integration on state‑of‑the‑art hardware.
• Use Model‑Based Engineering (MBE) with MATLAB/Simulink and Agile practices.
• Collaborate across the organization; communicate with internal and external customers.
• Show strong leadership, ethics, integrity, and innovative problem‑solving.

Basic Qualifications – Principal Software Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of hands‑on software development experience; 3years with a Master’s; 1year with a Ph.D.
• Experience developing software in MATLAB/Simulink.
• Programming experience in C and Python.
• Experience with software management and workflow automation tools such as ClearCase, Git, ClearQuest, or Jira.
• Knowledge of using MATLAB to create, process, analyze and visually represent data.
• Experience using Simulink to model dynamic systems.
• Familiarity with Model‑Based Engineering tools.
• Knowledge of INS/GPS Kalman filter design and requirements definition.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative development environment.
• U.S. citizenship required; secret clearance requirement.
• Full‑time onsite work required.

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8 years of hands‑on software development experience; 6years with a Master’s; 4years with a Ph.D.
• Experience developing software in MATLAB/Simulink.
• Programming experience in C and Python.
• Experience with software management and workflow automation tools such as ClearCase, Git, ClearQuest, or Jira.
• Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze and visually represent data.
• Experience using Simulink to model dynamic systems.
• Experience with navigation systems and INS/GPS Kalman filter design and requirements definition.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative development environment.
• U.S. citizenship required; secret clearance requirement.
• Full‑time onsite work required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Experience in development and performance of software tests.
• Experience with DOORS for software requirements management.
• Expertise in sensor fusion for navigation systems using IMU, GPS, barometers and other sensors.
• Expertise in INS mechanizations.
• Expertise in embedded INS/GPS navigation systems.
• Capability to translate formal software requirements into software designs.
• Capability to define software requirements for an INS/GPS system.
• Experience developing, verifying, certifying and releasing mission and safety‑critical software systems that comply with RTCA DO‑178B/C or similar guidelines.
• Experience with MATLAB for simulation and INS/GPS system performance evaluation.
• Hands‑on experience with communication protocols such as MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC‑429 or RS‑422.
• Experience with code analysis tools such as Polyspace and software test tools such as LDRA and VectorCast.

Salary

Primary Level: $114,000–$171,000. Secondary Level: $142,200–$213,400. Salary determined by scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
