HVAC Sales and Service Technician Full Time

Location: Elk Grove, CA
Pay Range: $22$27 per hour (DOE) plus commission
Employment Type: Fulltime, NonExempt

Position Summary

The HVAC Sales and Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining residential and/or light commercial HVAC systems while providing professional recommendations to customers. This role combines hands-on technical work with consultative sales, ensuring customers understand their options for repairs, maintenance, indoor air quality, system upgrades, and replacements. Youll represent the company in the field with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems
Perform thorough system inspections and communicate findings clearly to customers
Provide repair, maintenance, indoor air quality, and replacement recommendations based on customer needs
Prepare estimates, present options, and support customers through the sales process
Complete service calls efficiently while maintaining high standards for workmanship and safety
Document job notes, photos, equipment information, recommendations, and completed work in ServiceTitan
Maintain company vehicle, tools, inventory, and equipment in a clean and professional condition
Follow all company procedures, manufacturer specifications, and applicable California codes and safety standards
Build trust with customers through honest communication, professionalism, and excellent customer service

Required Qualifications

3+ years of HVAC service, maintenance, installation, or related field experience
Strong troubleshooting skills for heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical, and control systems
Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally to customers
Comfortable presenting repair and replacement options and asking for the sale
Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Ability to use mobile devices, dispatching software, and ServiceTitan or similar field service software
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

EPA Section 608 certification
NATE certification or other HVAC technical certifications
Experience with residential HVAC sales, maintenance agreements, system replacements, and indoor air quality products
Knowledge of California HVAC codes, permits, inspections, and safety requirements
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and outdoor conditions
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs as needed
Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and company vehicle
