Regulatory Specialist

Our client, a leading investment bank, is seeking a Senior NLA / FOCUS Reporting Analyst to support regulatory reporting and financial control activities. This individual will be responsible for performing Net Liquidating Asset (NLA) calculations, preparing and reviewing FINRA FOCUS filings, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will have 5+years of experience in a broker-dealer, investment bank, or financial services environment, with strong knowledge of NLA, net capital, FOCUS reporting, SEC/FINRA regulations, and broker-dealer accounting. Key Responsibilities Prepare and perform daily, monthly, and quarterly Net Liquidating Asset (NLA) calculations and related regulatory capital analyses. Prepare, review, and submit FINRA FOCUS Reports, ensuring filings are accurate, complete, and submitted within regulatory deadlines. Analyze broker-dealer financial data, including cash, securities, receivables, payables, proprietary positions, and other balance sheet items impacting net capital. Perform net capital calculations and identify potential deficiencies or regulatory issues. Reconcile NLA and regulatory reporting data to the general ledger and underlying accounting records. Research and interpret FINRA and SEC regulatory requirements applicable to broker-dealer reporting. Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Treasury, and Compliance to investigate and resolve reporting discrepancies. Maintain supporting schedules, documentation, and controls for regulatory filings and calculations. Assist with regulatory examinations, internal audits, external audits, and requests from FINRA, SEC, and other regulators. Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and control environment surrounding regulatory reporting processes. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and assess their impact on reporting and capital calculations. Provide management with analysis regarding regulatory capital, liquidity, and broker-dealer financial position. Qualifications 5-10 years of experience in broker-dealer accounting, regulatory reporting, financial control, or a related function within an investment bank or financial institution. Direct experience preparing or reviewing FINRA FOCUS filings. Strong hands-on experience with NLA and/or net capital calculations. Knowledge of SEC Rule 15c3-1, FINRA regulatory requirements, and broker-dealer financial reporting. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and broker-dealer accounting. Experience reconciling regulatory reporting to the general ledger and financial statements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with Accounting, Operations, Treasury, Compliance, and other control functions. Strong Excel skills; experience with financial reporting or regulatory reporting systems is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
