Salary Range: $24/hourThe Forklift Operator position is responsible for distributing stands, wire, and other material as necessary to and from the production areas. This position is also responsible for weighing, and tagging finished product and transporting it to the various departments or staging them in the designated holding areas.Primary Responsibilities:Transports wire, stands, spools, and other materials as needed to various locations within the mill, and limited areas in the yard with a forklift.Coordinates activities with production machine operators to ensure that raw materials arrive when required and finished product is removed from the various production areas in an efficient manner.Operate a forklift and other machinery in a safe responsible manner.Maintain good standards of housekeeping in general work area and observe and comply with all safety rules and regulationsWeigh finished products and move to respective department or staging areas.Maintain organization of stock, and assist in inventory preparationMaintain proper quality specifications as per Quality Assurance guidelinesPerforms other duties and tasks as assignedJob Requirements:High School or EquivalentMust be 18 years or older due to work environment and labor lawsMust be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screeningsMust be able to understand various tags and labels used in the millMust be able to read and understand production schedule and production cardsMust be able to use bar code readerMust be able to work independently, as a team, and be able to work with both internal and external customersAbility to think strategically and problem solveMust be able to work inside and outside in all kinds of weather conditionsForklift/Material Handling experience – at least one year's experienceSome computer knowledge – to use scaleAvailable to work overtime and shift schedule of 12 days on 2 days offMust join Union upon completion of 30 days of employmentAuthorized to work for any employer in the United States of AmericaPhysical Requirements:Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions, and in a dusty environment around metalsSight – hand and eye coordination, depth perception needed to operate forkliftHearing – must be able to hear others and warning sounds of forklift and other heavy machinerySpeech – must be able to communicate effectively with others while workingMust be able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for long periods – frequent to constantMust be able to squat, stoop, twist, climb, crawl, reach, grasp, and fine manipulation, operate foot controls, and work above shoulders occasional to constantMust be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds on an occasional basisMust be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and overhead crane
