Founding Forward Deployed Engineer
fde
Founding Forward Deployed Engineer at DeployCo ("The OpenAI Deployment Company"), a subsidiary of OpenAI built to deliver enterprise AI transformation at scale using OpenAI's models and products. You act as technical lead on high-stakes, ambiguous customer deployments, owning both technical and business outcomes end-to-end; guide deployment strategy and help define DeployCo's operating model; build reusable deployment primitives, tools, and playbooks; and ramp quickly toward management as a player-coach growing the team. Partners closely with OpenAI's core functions so field work informs the roadmap. Wants 4+ years of engineering/technical delivery, 0→1 experience building under ambiguity, and production-grade JavaScript or Python across frontend and backend. SF or NYC, hybrid (3 days/week), relocation assistance, up to 50% travel. Verified live on DeployCo's own careers site (jobs on Ashby). #J-18808-Ljbffr fde
