Park Ranger Company: Highway West Vacations | Location: Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort | Status: Part‑Time, Seasonal, Non‑Exempt | Supervisor: General Manager The Park Ranger at Danforth Bay is responsible for ensuring guests can enjoy their stay safely, while complying with property rules and guidelines. In support of the resort’s culture and standards, the ranger patrols the grounds, creates positive relationships with guests, and acts as a hospitality ambassador with a friendly and positive demeanor. Qualifications Basic computer skills. Valid driver’s license required. Education: high school, GED, technical or trade school, apprenticeship. Reach/squat/bend/carry/push/pull/lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to stand or drive a golf cart for extended periods of time. Flexibility with schedule required, including work some days or evenings, weekends, and holidays. Dependable and adheres to scheduled shifts. Problem‑solving skills and excellent communication and customer service with staff and guests. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with other employees and guests. Ability to work outdoors during a variety of weather conditions, including severe weather events. Strong attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Must accurately and consistently fill out daily shift logs, including incidents, accidents, or important pass‑along information. Must remain current on established policies and procedures and follow proper protocols. Assess situations, use quick and reasonable judgment, and resolve problems diplomatically. Remain calm and objective in stressful situations. Strong work ethic, commitment, and a positive attitude. Maintain guest and employee confidentiality. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Responsibilities Enforce rules, respond to areas of concern, and ensure guest safety in a positive manner. Respond to emergency situations following established protocols and procedures. Verbally follow up with Park Ranger Supervisor regarding situations and fill out all necessary documents. Function as part of a cohesive Park Ranger team with a focused mission. Patrol the grounds, including sites, pools, beaches, and bathhouses. Ensure buildings are secured when appropriate. Routinely check resort amenities for unregistered guests. Assist with maintaining the appearance of the park, such as emptying and picking up trash. Perform light maintenance work during slow times. Secure pool area at designated times, empty trash, and organize furniture at pool closing. Monitor weather patterns and respond to maintaining park entrance and safety during severe weather. Assist guests according to policies and procedures. Report any damaged property or maintenance issues to the office, supervisor, and/or GM/AGMs. Fill out daily logs consistently, ensuring all important details are included in reports. Night shifts: Fill out daily fire/quiet time log, report any issues to supervisors/GM/AGMs promptly. Ensure quiet time is followed and all campfires or coals are extinguished by the designated time, maintaining a positive guest relationship. Day shifts: May be involved in traffic control at park entrance during heavy check‑in times and events. Smile, wave, and chat with guests while patrolling park continuously and observe any early behaviors that could signal later issues. Participate in internal communications such as huddles, recaps, weekly meetings, and emails. Monitor proper display of vehicle passes, golf cart tags, and boat tags, ensuring all are registered. Welcome and assist after‑hour camper arrivals, minimizing disruption to existing guests. Clean and prepare rental golf carts for guest pick‑up. Sign out golf carts with guests, ensuring they understand all rules and any previous damage is reported appropriately. Check in golf carts with guests, ensuring any new damage is reported immediately to the GM/AGMs. Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., posting notices). Report and remain accountable to Park Ranger Supervisor.
