Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients in a high-volume emergency department setting.
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to effectively manage clinical situations.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an emergency room or related nursing specialty.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only).
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association only).
• PALS certification (American Heart Association only).
• TNCC certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience with high-acuity patients including stroke, STEMI, MVC trauma, psychiatric, geriatric, and pediatric populations.
• Familiarity working in a trauma bay environment with cath lab support.
