Director, Quality & Regulatory

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Quality & Regulatory based in the United States.

As Director, Quality & Regulatory, you will lead the strategy and execution of quality assurance, regulatory compliance, product safety, and supplier quality across a growing global consumer products portfolio. You will own the Quality Management System and establish the standards, processes, and controls that ensure products are safe, compliant, reliable, and consistently meet customer expectations. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight across product development, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and supplier management. You will guide a quality and regulatory team while partnering closely with Legal, Product Development, Marketing, Customer Experience, and executive leadership. You will oversee domestic and international regulatory requirements across both wet and hard goods and respond to evolving standards and market expectations. Accountabilities:

• Develop and execute the overall quality and regulatory strategy, establish departmental objectives, and manage the function’s budget and operating expenses.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs team while establishing a strong organization-wide culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Report quality, regulatory, and compliance performance to executive leadership and provide clear recommendations on risks, priorities, and improvement opportunities.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product Development, Marketing, Legal, Customer Experience, and other teams to integrate quality and regulatory considerations into business decisions.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including quality policies, procedures, documentation, and document-control processes.
• Establish product quality standards, acceptance criteria, reliability requirements, and durability testing expectations, ensuring products consistently meet defined specifications.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable domestic and international quality and regulatory standards across the product portfolio.
• Establish supplier and contract-manufacturer audit criteria and oversee incoming, in-process, and finished-goods quality programs, including statistical quality analysis and validation/verification activities.
• Manage regulatory requirements for both wet and hard goods, interpret new and evolving regulations, and develop practical compliance strategies.
• Maintain regulatory files, technical documentation, and submission materials while monitoring regulatory developments that may affect products or operations.
• Lead product safety programs, ensuring products meet applicable safety standards and coordinating certifications, third-party testing, and related documentation.
• Investigate product safety complaints and contribute to recall planning, response, and execution when required.
• Establish supplier quality requirements, qualify and approve suppliers, conduct supplier audits, and evaluate supplier performance against defined standards.
• Define incoming inspection requirements, review supplier corrective actions, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive measurable improvement.
• Participate in product development planning, review and approve specifications, and ensure quality and compliance requirements are incorporated early in the development lifecycle.
• Review product testing, approve production readiness, and support successful product launches.
• Identify and assess quality and regulatory risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze customer complaints, investigate warranty and product-quality issues, and develop corrective action plans using customer quality metrics to improve satisfaction and product performance.
• Maintain accurate, inspection-ready department records and ensure applicable retention requirements are consistently met.
• Train relevant teams on regulatory and quality requirements and ensure regulatory impacts are evaluated throughout product development and commercialization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, business, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in product quality and/or regulatory affairs within a consumer products environment.
• Demonstrated ownership and implementation of a Quality Management System, product safety programs, and domestic and international regulatory compliance programs.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing Quality Assurance and/or Regulatory Affairs teams, including setting departmental objectives and building a culture of quality.
• Recent consumer products experience, including defining product quality standards, overseeing validation activities, and managing reliability and durability testing throughout the product lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of product safety, regulatory compliance, quality systems, supplier quality, and continuous improvement principles.
• Experience managing a global supplier base, including establishing supplier quality requirements, conducting audits, evaluating supplier performance, and driving corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
• Strong ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical guidance, policies, and processes for cross-functional teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to communicate quality and compliance performance effectively to executive leadership.
• Experience managing departmental budgets and operational expenses, with the business judgment to balance quality and compliance investments against broader organizational priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience using quality data, customer feedback, testing results, and risk assessments to inform decisions.
• Ability to influence across functions, build collaborative relationships, and establish quality as a shared organizational responsibility.
• High level of accountability, integrity, adaptability, and attention to detail in a fast-moving consumer products environment.
