Certified School Nurse (CSN)
Step into a fulfilling role as a Certified School Nurse (CSN) for the 2026-27 school year, where you'll make a meaningful impact supporting students from kindergarten through grade 12, including young adults in transition programs (ages 18-22). Working full-time, you'll provide skilled, compassionate care across a diverse student body with varying types and levels of support needs in a vibrant educational environment.
As a valued nursing professional, your expertise will help create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning atmosphere. You'll collaborate closely with educational staff, foster student wellness, and ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare standards.
What you bring:
- Active Illinois RN license and valid Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential required
- Prior experience working in a school setting or with similar pediatric/adolescent populations preferred
- Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
- Dedication to culturally responsive and inclusive care for students from all backgrounds
- Ability to develop and implement individualized health plans for students with various medical needs
- Confidence in addressing urgent issues and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
What you'll do:
- Provide direct nursing care, first aid, and emergency response during school hours
- Develop, manage, and implement individualized healthcare and safety plans for students with chronic or acute conditions
- Coordinate health screenings, immunization compliance, and preventative health initiatives
- Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff regarding health concerns and education
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Advocate for student well-being and help create a positive, inclusive school climate
