GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES Under the direction of the Materials Manager performs a variety of planning, procuring, and sometimes distribution of supplies, equipment and services for the surgical centers. Performs value analysis activities as necessary. Assist A/P with reconciliation of invoices. Serves as a liaison between surgery center Materials Managers and corporate Materials Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knowledge of Surgical Specialties and their prospective equipment & supply needs. Product prioritization and management, keeping number of similar items to a minimum. Maintain inventory levels to provide good asset turnover. Manage the center staff’s management of supplier’s relationships and agreements. Knowledge of Packaging, Transport, Health & Safety regulatory guidelines and compliance to ensure facility compliance. . Assist in Inventory updating and Standardization. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS High School graduate or equivalent, A.S degree preferred. Three to four years experience in medical materials management or one to two years as OR materials management. Background in Surgical Setting considered. Strong supervisory and organizational skills required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to work well independently and perform duties under pressure. Strong computer skills with knowledge of excel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Walking: 66-100% Lifting: 0-50lbs. as needed Carrying: 0-25lbs. as needed Pushing: 0-400lbs. on wheels with assistance as needed Climbing: 1-5 flights of stairs as necessary Pulling: As needed Bending: Proper bending necessary to pick things off the floor Squatting: As needed to pick up boxes/supplies Rotating: Shoulders as necessary Kneeling: As needed to pick up supplies Reaching: overhead as needed Environmental Conditions Inside 95-100% Temperature 30F-115F Fumes: Occasional Dust: Occasional Gases: None Mist: Occasional Radiation: Occasional Noise or Vibrations: Biomedical equipment, needles, sharps, copy machine, phones, latex, disinfectants, etc. Hazards: Occasional contact with communicable disease, electrical equipment, etc. Personal Protective Equipment: Provided (gowns, gloves, masks, head cover).
