Automotive Fabrication Welder (GMAW/FCAW/SAW)

Location: Harvey, IL
Pay: $21–$23 per hour, paid weekly
Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 3:30 pm–12:00 am (initial training on 1st shift, 7:00 am–3:30 pm)

You clock in, review the day’s prints, and set up your station. Reading customer drawings is second nature—you choose the proper settings and consumables, then lay down clean, consistent welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions. Throughout the shift, you verify dimensions, check bead profiles, and fine-tune technique to hit quality targets. When a tricky joint appears, you huddle with production and engineering to sort it out. By the end of the night, you’ve delivered precise work that keeps this growing automotive operation on schedule.

• Interpret customer drawings and produce quality weldments to spec
• Perform GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions
• Use hand tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment to prep, fit, and finish
• Inspect your own work and make adjustments to maintain high standards
• Collaborate with production and engineering to resolve issues quickly
• Operate grinding tools and air-arc (carbon-arc) equipment as needed

• Hands-on experience with GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW processes
• Ability to spot basic weld defects and sustain quality output
• Comfort using grinders and carbon-arc gouging tools
• Self-directed, productive work style with strong safety focus
• Reliability in following instructions and meeting production goals

This is a contract-to-hire role supporting a fast-growing automotive manufacturer in Harvey. Upon conversion to full-time, you will join the union workforce.

• Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers: Employees working in Illinois accrue up to 40 hours of paid leave during a 12‑month period (one hour per 40 hours worked, up to 40 hours). The 12‑month accrual period begins on your first day of employment. Earned leave can be used starting 90 calendar days after employment begins.
• 401(k) eligibility: Available to active employees who are at least 21 years old and, within a 12‑month period, have completed one year of service and 1,000 hours. Entry dates are 1/1 or 7/1 following eligibility.
