Certified Surgical Technologist

Surgical TechnologistTownsen Memorial Surgery Center- Kingwood is looking for a full-time Surgical Technologist, to join our team! The Surgical Technologist is responsible for scrubbing in and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each case, the surgical technologist will be on standby for sterile technician needs which includes the following aspects of sterile processing to include decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies and procedures.Essential functions include working with specialty surgical instrumentation, troubleshooting problems and repairs, assimilating and communicating information received from various sources in an accurate, timely, and effective manner, reviewing instrumentation needs, managing inventory and stock operating par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts, identifying and following manufacturers instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instrumentation, flexible scopes, and equipment, utilizing count sheets consistently to correctly assemble, protect, wrap containerize and/or peel pack and label instrumentations, preparing carts from pick list and delivering instrumentation to as needed to the operating room, making rounds through the operating rooms consistently and confirming instrumentation needs are met, facilitating room turnovers, adhering to the proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials, following manufacturers recommendations for sterilization methods and selecting appropriate sterilization methods, documenting and verifying sterilization loads and biological test properly to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process, recording utilization of instrumentation proficiency in tracking system, handling sterile products and ensuring stock is placed in the proper location, identifying and inspecting instruments for cleanliness and functionality, assembling and preparing instrumentation for sterilization, organizing workflow, problem solving, and managing multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, participating in staff and self-development meetings/in services and providing guidance and training to other staff as needed, protecting patient and family privacy rights and maintaining confidentiality of patient records, maintaining awareness of safety hazards and maintaining a clean and orderly work area, maintaining professional competences and certifications, and performing other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of medical terminology, demonstrating strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures, demonstrating proficiency in medical and surgical technology, demonstrating strong knowledge of operating equipment and supplies, and demonstrating leadership skills.Education and experience include a high school diploma or GED, formal education in surgical technology, current surgical technologist certification from an accredited program or completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, or coast guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service, basic life support (BLS) certified, and must complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due dates, annual employee health requirement as established by the facility, (i.e. PPD annual testing).Benefits include 3 medical plans, 2 dental plans, 2 vision plans, employee assistance program, short- and long-term disability insurance, accidental death & dismemberment plan, 401(k) with a 2-year vesting, PTO + holidays.
