Acute Medicine Pulmonary Registered Nurse - Nights

Overview Barnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The unit provides high‑quality care for patients with acute medical conditions, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Patients are managed for a wide range of clinical issues, including blood dyscrasias, acute endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, gastrointestinal conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and other acute problems. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, and is supported by an advanced practice nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. The multidisciplinary team works with nurses and patient care technicians to deliver quality patient care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on illness or injury management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team. Ensures communication of the care plan across continuum of care. Utilizes critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs per standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintains constant state of alertness and operates safely (safety‑sensitive position). Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: None required.
