Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department – Bronson Lakeview Hospital – Part‑time Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals; delegating selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Responsibilities • Collect and analyze comprehensive data pertinent to the patients’ health or the situation, including assessment of physical and developmental needs, analysis of assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs, documentation of nursing history, review of vital signs and detection of deviations from normal.

• Identify patient problems or issues, confirm problems with patient and family, document expected outcomes and plan of care, and coordinate discharge planning for outcomes not achieved.
• Develop an individualized plan of intervention, incorporating clinical pathways and patient/family input, and consider data from other members of the healthcare team.
• Implement the plan of care, administer prescribed medication and treatment, utilize evidence‑based interventions, maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs, initiate patient education, and manage the care plan through organization and delegation of patient care interventions.
• Evaluate progress toward expected outcomes, assess effectiveness of interventions and patient response, and document outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, ongoing educational activities, and self‑evaluation, and engage in peer review as appropriate.
• Collaborate with patients, family, and other health disciplines to effect positive outcomes, maintain compassionate and caring relationships, and contribute to a supportive work environment.
• Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into practice, use research to improve patient health, and participate in research activities as appropriate.
• Consider safety, effectiveness, cost and impact in the planning and delivery of nursing services, delegate tasks appropriately, and assist patients and families in making informed decisions.
• Provide leadership in the professional practice setting, participate in nursing councils, attend unit staff meetings, and maintain a healthy work environment.
• For the Scrub RN role: interpret procedure cards, assess case carts, identify missing equipment, anticipate physician needs, monitor patient conditions, update case information, ensure proper equipment use, support circulators, and perform scrub duties in multiple services. For the HDU Department, additional on‑call requirements apply.

Qualifications and Certifications Associate’s degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, must be obtained within 8years of hire. Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan. BLS certification required at completion of core orientation. ACE, ALS, or other specific unit certifications may be required, including:

• SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale within 90days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC only required for FT and part‑time nurses) within 6months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support for all nurses in the Special Care Unit within 6months of hire.

Complete electronic documentation and communication competence. Other Requirements • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment to set appropriate plans of action.

• Must communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
• Expect interactive, repetitive or detailed work requiring sustained attention and alertness.
• Regularly lift up to 50pounds and occasionally handle heavier materials.
• The RN is also responsible for completing the Workday CBL for “Swing beds” and may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs.
