Medical Assistant Position at Planned Parenthood of Greater OhioPlanned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking mission-minded Associates to join us as a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Medical Assistant to serve our patients at our Kent Health Center. Union Status: Bargaining Unit PositionThe Medical Assistant performs a variety of client care services in accordance with agency policies and in a courteous and professional manner. Provides general health and contraceptive information to clients, assists with medical procedures and performs clerical functions, while ensuring quality client care and excellent customer service. The Medical Assistant provides direct services in family planning and, if assigned, abortion care and is responsible for customer service skills in person and on the telephone. Must be pleasant, courteous and helpful. Requires an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellence in customer service and practice these values in relation with internal and external customers.Benefits include a signing bonus, paid time off, paid parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death & disability, long term/short term disability, 401(k) with matching employer contribution up to 4%, nine paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and a financial incentive program for certified bilingual staff.What you can expect includes a customized interactive training and on-boarding program, opportunities to be promoted from within, and being a part of a team that provides critical health care and education to Ohioans.What you will do includes providing clients with accurate information regarding PPGOH services, responding to telephone calls, preparing and maintaining patient medical records, competently utilizing the computerized client information system, providing customer focused services, gathering and recording all pertinent information from patients, administering medication, participating in a team approach delivery system of services to patients, preparing clients for exams, understanding and accurately explaining Informed Consent, performing waived laboratory tests and venipuncture, measuring and documenting client height, weight and blood pressure, preparing examination room and maintaining cleanliness and inventory, assisting in minor surgical procedures, handling medical waste utilizing universal precautions, communicating with co-workers to keep client visits moving in a timely manner, maintaining confidentiality, participating in risk and quality management processes, and attending in-service, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings.What you will bring includes a high school diploma or GED, advanced technical training or Certified Medical Assistant required, experience working in a health care setting preferred, knowledge and proficiency in medical assisting techniques and reproductive health preferred, excellent customer service, problem solving, judgment, organizational and communication skills, and a strong commitment to quality health care.
