Overview Procurement Transplant Coordinator (Registered Nurse), Per Diem, Day Req #: 0000247160 Category: Nurses Status: Per Diem Shift: Day Facility: Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Department: Organ Transplants Pay Range: $59.31 - $77.11 per hour Location: 94 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 Job Overview The Transplant Procurement Coordinator is a registered nurse trained in the evaluation of deceased donor organ offers, waitlist review, patient selection, post-transplant patient management and donor-recipient matching. The ability to coordinate, plan, and follow-up organ offers, procurement schedules, organ perfusion/organ transport, and timely communication with patients, Transplant Nephrologists, Transplant Surgeons, Transplant APPs/other team members as well as hospital OR personnel and Logistics/Bed Management is required. Functions to effectively review organ offers and maximize acceptance of organs for transplantation in compliance with local, regional, and national policies, in a responsible and professional manner. This unit is in operation for 24 hours, 7 days per week. Responsibilities Review organ offers and coordinate procurement activities to maximize organ acceptance in compliance with policies and regulations. Coordinate, plan, and follow-up organ offers, scheduling, perfusion/transport, and communication with clinical and OR teams. Provide timely communication with Transplant Nephrologists, Transplant Surgeons, Transplant APPs/other team members. Dispostion of organ offers, interpreting waiver information, and ensuring appropriate payment considerations where applicable. Present donor history, hospital course, medications, laboratory review (including serology and blood type) to the transplant team. Maintain in-depth knowledge of transplant nursing and OPTN/CMS CoP requirements to ensure program adherence. Work 100% pre-transplant in this role. Maintain proficiency with computer systems and complete all Orientation programs. Qualifications Required: Registered Nurse in New Jersey Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical, Emergency Room, ICU, OPO, and/or transplantation preferred Ability to apply knowledge of OPTN and CMS CoP for Transplant Programs and RWJBH policies Receives organ offers through OPTN with timely disposition (acceptance or denial within 60 minutes) Review and interpret organ match runs to identify RWJBH transplant recipients Understand waiver information on organ offers and implications for payment Present critical organ offer information to transplant physicians, including donor history and key clinical data Knowledge of transplant nursing and ongoing professional development Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Proficiency with computers Completion of all orientation programs Preferred Bachelor’s degree Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical, Emergency Room, ICU, OPO and/or transplantation Certifications and Licenses New Jersey Registered Nursing License Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Scheduling Requirements Day shift, 12.5 hours Rotation to work every other weekend Holiday rotation required Role may be partially or fully remote with required in-person training at CBMC; quarterly in-person staff meetings may be required Onsite training provided during the 8-hour day shift (Monday-Friday) Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities.
