Part-Time Paramedic

Responsibilities Initiate patient care upon arrival. Assist with proper extrication of trapped patients. Direct the operations of first responders and bystanders. Manage control drugs on the ambulance. Ensure all required documents are complete after each call. Maintain proper radio communications with dispatch, hospital, and other units. Operate emergency vehicles and drive the ambulance in emergency situations. Decide on patient transport destination. Provide professional and courteous customer service to in‑house staff and the general public via telephone, electronically, or face‑to‑face. Check ambulance supplies and condition, and resupply at the beginning of each shift and after every call. Provide medical coverage for special events such as ballgames and concerts when requested. Perform related work as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum age of 21 years. State of Georgia licensed Paramedic. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. Ability to lift 180 pounds from the ground to a stretcher with assistance. Physical Demands Heavy work involving constant lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds regularly and exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally. Work Environment Hazards Routine exposure to bright/dim light, dust, pollen, extreme heat or cold, wet or humid conditions. Exposure to extreme noise levels, animals or wildlife, vibration, fumes, noxious odors. Traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, radiation, disease/pathogens. Licenses and Certifications Required State of Georgia licensed Paramedic. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Additional Requirements The applicant must pass a drug and/or alcohol screening and a background investigation. Shift assignments may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
