The Spacesuit Technologist will support the space program located in Houston, Texas (77058) . The PGS Spacesuit Lab Technologist supports hands-on assembly, inspection, and testing of NASA prototype spacesuits. This role works closely with experienced suit technicians to prepare hardware, operate specialized test equipment, and assist with human in the loop evaluations across multiple NASA facilities. Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical aptitude, practical trade skills, and a commitment to safe, precise workmanship in a dynamic lab and test environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with and be trained by senior spacesuit team members in the inspection, assembly, and testing of prototype spacesuits.
• Perform inspection and assembly of multiple suit configurations for pressurized human in the loop testing. Support tests at multiple NASA facilities, such as 1-G, robotic weight support, reduced gravity and Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory.
• Prepare and complete procedures and work instructions for spacesuit maintenance, repairs, testing, and fabrication.
• Become a trained operator of test equipment (TSE) and ground support equipment (GSE) for space suit testing. Including pneumatic, thermal and communication systems.
• Build and modify mockups and prototype hardware for testing and evaluation.
• Establish and maintain personal training and certifications.
• Follow and implement safety policies, rules, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for personnel and equipment.
• Perform other duties as required. Availability for occasional non-business hours work is required.

• This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• This position requires experience in the space industry or Department of Defense/Department of War.
• Must have a High School or equivalent .
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related work experience.
• Hands-on mechanical and fabrication experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to pass a Class III AF Physical.
• Comfortable working in workshops, labs, and test environments.

DESIRED:

• ​Trade Certification or Diploma as a Mechanic, Machinist, Aircraft technician, or other hands-on work requiring precision workmanship.
• Prior experience with pressure garment life support systems, such as spacesuits or military high-altitude flight suits.
• Knowledge of Pneumatics.
• Prior experience operating pressure systems or life-support gear.

WORK LOCATION:

• This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

• Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
• Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
• Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
