RN Med Surg | Kings Mountain, North Carolina

Experienced registered nurses with a strong background in medical-surgical care are sought for a dynamic role serving a 32-bed unit with a daily census of approximately 28 patients. In this engaging contract position, you will support a diverse patient population with diagnoses ranging from orthopedic and abdominal surgeries to medical overflow cases. Advanced support is available from CNAs, HUCs, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage, as well as dedicated phlebotomy and telemetry techs to facilitate seamless patient care.


Schedule/Hours:

• Shifts: 0645-1900 or 1845-0700
• Every other weekend rotation
• 75% holiday coverage expectation
• No on-call requirements
• Flexible 6-week schedule cycle

Qualifications:

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Current RN license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience managing non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
• Skills in wound care, drain/tube management, PIV and central line management
• Comfort working with EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV Pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitoring systems
• Open to first-time travelers

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with orthopedic, gastrointestinal, and medical diagnoses
• Perform and interpret cardiac monitoring, initiate IVs, manage lines, and coordinate with the care team
• Collaborate with charge nurses, CNAs, techs, and other support staff to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Float within the region and scope of practice as needed
