Fire Safety Inspector

Job Description The UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. We value innovation, creative problem solving, and diligent follow-through. Responsibilities Maintain, operate, repair, design, install, program, test, and inspect fire alarm systems. Maintain and inspect fire extinguishers. Maintain, service, test, and inspect fire sprinkler systems at UCSF. Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of other fire and life safety equipment. Qualifications Two (2) years of experience working in a facilities organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels, contractors and design consultants; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environment. Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis. Fingerprinting, background check, and physical examination required. Preferred Qualifications Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of fire safety inspection process. Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes.
