Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Valid RN license Certifications: Basic Life Support Must-Have: Current acute care experience in the specialty with consistent work in the last 12 months Description: This position involves working in a medical oncology unit focusing on solid tumor cancers. The role requires strong assessment skills and the ability to manage a diverse patient population. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, but may go to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekends may vary according to unit requirements. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units is a requirement. Patients treated in this unit typically include adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers. The unit cares for patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment to end-of-life care. Infection prevention and fall precautions are heavily emphasized. The position involves telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills. Candidates should have experience in administering chemotherapy and managing intravenous lines. Computerized charting is conducted using an electronic health record system. Interdisciplinary support includes various healthcare professionals such as physical therapists and pharmacists. Preferred qualifications include oncology nursing certification. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing processes.
