Travel Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Telemetry

Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: New York license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Epic experience required - MS/Tele experience - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Description: Weekend coverage required: Every other weekend. Unit accepts first-time travelers: No. Patient ratios: Days 1:6; Nights 1:7; Weekends 1:8. Patient diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, nonspecific abdominal pain, cellulitis, and chest pain rule out. Skills required include: - Rapid response and code team utilization - Blood product administration - Central line care and management - Peripheral line care and management - PICC line management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Management of CVA (cerebrovascular accident) - Management of seizure disorders - Substance withdrawal treatment - BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance - High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Non-invasive airway management - Oxygen administration and handling of oxygen tanks - Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) - Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) - Accessing and managing ports - Phlebotomy - Heparin protocols - Wound care, including wound vac management - Management of total joint replacement patients Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census: 20 patients. Number of beds in the unit: 25. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and unit secretary. Candidates will need to float as required.
