In School Suspension Teacher

Summary
The In-School Suspension (ISS) Teacher is responsible for supervising students assigned to in-school suspension while maintaining a structured, respectful, and academically focused environment. This position ensures students continue academic progress, reflect on behavioral expectations, and develop strategies for improved decision-making. The ISS Teacher collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, and families to support student growth and school-wide discipline goals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise In-School Suspension students as assigned by the school principal.
• Work with the school principal to address interferences with student learning and teacher or student success.
• Document student attendance, behavior, and completion of assignments during ISS
• Manage a variety of program administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for behavior, truancy intervention, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district, and state policy while maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
• Serve as a liaison with communication and systematic support for the functions and purpose of the school for administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Work collaboratively with school counselors, case managers, and support staff as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree and valid PA teaching certification in Special Education PK-12.
• Knowledge of general and specific subject matters.
• Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to establish structure while maintaining positive relationships with students.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, parents and other district employees.
• Demonstrate talent in the instruction of students with varied styles and levels of mastery.

Hours- 7:20am - 2:50pm
