Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Specialty

We are seeking qualified Registered Nurses for a high-acuity Pulmonary Care Unit (PCU). This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, catering to patients with complex respiratory conditions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide direct patient care for individuals with various respiratory conditions, including COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, and acute respiratory failure.
• Monitor patients on telemetry, administer treatments, and manage respiratory support systems such as CPAP and BiPAP.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and effective management of dysrhythmias.
• Float to like units as required and assist in admissions and discharges.

Care will include patients with the following conditions:

• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Pneumonia (PNA)
• Respiratory distress and failure
• COVID-19 and influenza
• Pulmonary Embolism (PE)

Qualifications include:

• Minimum of 2 years in a similar role; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory; NIHSS certification is preferred.
• Proficient in IV starts, care of patients on ventilators, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation of dysrhythmias.

The unit features a mix of PCU and Med-Surg/Telemetry patients with a standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, potentially extending to 1:6 in extreme situations. Resources available on the unit include:

• Admission/Discharge nurse
• Assistant Nurse Manager
• Vascular Access Team
• Rapid Response Team (RRT)
• Code Team
• Behavioral Health Team

This position includes 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, requiring work every other weekend. The unit can accommodate block scheduling when the unit's needs are met.

Additional information includes:

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: White or navy blue required; not provided.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for specialty.
