To provide chair side assistance to a licensed dentist and to instruct and assist dental students in four-handed dentistry. The employee will provide chair side assistance to dentists and dental students in a variety of specialties which include but not limited to: Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Pedodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. The employee will work under the general supervision of the dental assistant supervisor in the sophomore, junior and senior clinic, General Practice Residency Program and the Emergency Dental Clinic at the LSUHSC School of Dentistry.Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training required.Job Duties and Other Information:Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patientsMaintain and stock cabinetsInstruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentist techniquesChart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or studentGive follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or studentPlace rubber dam and directed by dentist or studentExpose digital radiographs and expose and develop traditional radiographs and digital photographs (intra-oral and extra-oral as directed by the dentist or student.Make study models from alginate impressions as directed by the dentist or studentThe candidate applying should possess the following Core Competencies: Communicating effectively: Effectively The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement.
