Senior Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)

North of Lebanon, IN; Fully on-site with potential for hybrid flexibility down the road.
We are partnering with a growing small business to identify a hands-on Senior Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, taking ownership of the month-end process, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations while helping improve processes and reporting.


The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced small business environment.


Responsibilities

• Manage and participate in the month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and balance sheet accounts
• Assist with financial statement preparation and monthly reporting
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash flow reporting
• Analyze financial data and research variances or discrepancies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
• Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies
• Collaborate with leadership and operational teams on ad hoc financial projects
• Support ERP/system clean-up, implementations, or reporting enhancements as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5-7 years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
• Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations
• Hands-on experience with A/P, A/R, and cash management preferred
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Prior experience in a small or mid-sized business environment preferred
