Adjunct Instructor – Golf and Sports Turf Management Position Summary Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the Department. Appending to the applicant pool makes you available to the departmental search committee for consideration if a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis. Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, facilitating student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned – face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit instruction. Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule and may include day, evening, and weekend instruction. Required Education Associate degree and/or 2‑5 years of work experience in the field of study; or Associate degree and 2‑5 years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree and/or 6‑10 years of work experience in the field of study; or credentialed in the field of study; Master’s degree and/or 11‑15 years of work experience; or credentialed in the field of study; Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years of work experience; or credentialed in the field of study. Minimally meet the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. Required Experience Experience in turfgrass management and/or maintenance. Preferred Education Bachelor’s Degree or above in Horticulture, Agronomy, or Turf Management. Preferred Experience Turf management on sports surfaces. Courses will vary – irrigation, equipment, use of herbicides, and other skills used in the improvement and upkeep of sports turf surfaces will be necessary in specific courses taught. Successful teaching of Horticulture, Agronomy or similar disciplines will also better suit some courses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly. Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain ethical and professional behavior and be available to students by appointment. Attend adjunct faculty meetings and assess courses on departmental and institutional levels. Complete any required training and perform other related duties as assigned. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to teach in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses. Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory. Strong communication skills with students, college personnel, administration, peers, and public groups.
