Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery, ensuring their stability and safety. The PACU nurse assesses, monitors, and manages patients during the critical recovery phases, demonstrating advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care principles.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patient recovery in Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia stages, monitoring vital signs and incision sites.
• Assess patient stability continuously and identify early signs of complications.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, and Phillips Monitors.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient care and readiness for transfer to next care phase.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
• Comply with infection control procedures including vaccination and religious or medical exemptions.

Qualifications:

• Hold 2+ years of critical care nursing experience in ER or ICU settings, or approved equivalent.
• Possess a valid RN license within the state of practice.
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification is recommended and may be required for certain positions.
• Demonstrate proficiency with medical equipment and post-operative assessment skills.
• Possess strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
