Quality Technician, Final Quality Inspector
Rochester Hills, MI (On Site)
About the Company
FANUC America is one of the leading makers of industrial robots, CNC systems, and factory automation in North America. Manufacturers across automotive, aerospace, electronics, and many other industries use their equipment to run their production lines.
About the Role
As a Quality Technician, you’ll be the final check on FANUC robots and products before they ship, making sure each one is free of defects and meets engineering specs. You’ll work with manufacturing and engineering to find the cause of quality issues and fix them, and you’ll recommend ways to improve the process. This role works on site at FANUC’s manufacturing facilities with occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
- Complete final quality inspection checkpoints according to inspection plans
- Review product test records to verify passing results
- Run scheduled quality audits on production processes, assemblies, and product packaging
- Monitor work in process for compliance with workmanship standards
- Read and work from manufacturing control plans and engineering drawings
- Investigate quality issues, find the root cause, and report findings
- Communicate quality issues to manufacturing supervision and help drive corrective actions, including documentation updates
- Gather data with manufacturing and engineering to resolve production problems
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes
- Complete work orders in Oracle ERP and report finished units ready for disposition
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a quality assurance or inspection role in a related industry
- Technical certificate in manufacturing or engineering, or equivalent experience
- Able to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of engineering specifications
- Experience with root cause analysis and disciplined problem solving tools
- Experience with ERP systems and work order transactions (Oracle a plus)
- Experience working across multiple work centers or departments
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift parts of 50 lbs or more
