Will accept inpatient oncology experience as part of total experience but must also have outpatient infusion clinic exp. Will not accept any other outpatient clinic experience except infusion clinic. The center provides day hospital/infusion and outpatient clinic services to autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients as well as CAR-t patients. This is a fast paced clinic which offers the opportunity to rotate through multiple areas such as infusion/day hospital, lab/port draw, clinic and a bone marrow biopsy suite.

Responsibilities:

• Chemotherapy/biotherapy administration and management, including investigational protocols
• Transfusion of blood, platelets and fresh frozen plasma
• Port draw, phlebotomy and central line access; central line care
• Procedural area with bone marrow biopsy/aspiration; minimal analgesia with recovery
• Management of toxicities r/t chemotherapy/biotherapy
• Management/monitoring patients with neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and electrolyte abnormalities to include repletion

Facility & Patient Care Details:

• Patient age groups: Adults, Geriatrics
• Daily census: 50/60 a day
• Number of visits per day: 50
• Interdisciplinary support: IV teams, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretary
• Patient diagnoses: Cellular immunotherapy and transplant patients seen through the continuum of care from pre-transplant to post-transplant
• Special procedures/unit details: Will accept inpatient oncology experience. Will not accept any other outpatient clinic experience except infusion clinic.

Submittal Details:

• SSN, DOB, address, phone, and email should be included at the time of submission. Minimum 1 year experience required. VA or compact state must be in hand at time of submittal.
• Locals accepted at same base rate. No radius rules for applicants.
• 2 references required.
• Candidates will float within scope if needed. BSN preferred. EPIC charting experience required.
• Return staff policy: Both travelers and permanent staff must be gone for one year before being eligible to return as a traveler.
• Modules: All VCU candidates will be assigned modules during orientation on the VCU Learning Exchange. Modules are non-billable, average 6 hours of modules factored in NBO. Modules are completed during orientation, and vary by specialty.
