Overview Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in St. Joseph, Missouri— offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about. Pay & Bonuses Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year) Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off Hours: First shift 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Benefits Medical, dental, and vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO your first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build your skills Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: earn $250 – $50,000 per year Extra paid day off for U.S. military veterans 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility criteria) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech, and more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred) Basic tools — required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including: Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred) All other certifications required by location (required) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. (required) At least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment (required) Eligibility & Certifications Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years (required) Additional Screening Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer‑specific badging or background requirements. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including: Standard and preventive maintenance Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed Work unsupervised on most tasks Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) Complete 2 OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses required by the fleet mix within 365 days EEO Statement Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace.
