1st Class GMAW Welder – Day Shift

Location: Lockport, LA
Type: Full-Time

Summary

Seeking an experienced 1st Class GMAW Welder for a shipyard environment. Responsibilities include performing short arc MIG welding on structural steel and marine components, reading blueprints, and producing quality welds that meet company and customer standards.

Must-Haves
  • 3+ years of GMAW (MIG) short arc welding experience
  • Shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial welding background
  • Ability to pass a weld test
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols
  • Experience welding carbon steel in multiple positions
  • Strong safety awareness and reliable attendance
Preferred
  • Shipyard or marine construction experience
  • FCAW experience
  • Structural steel fabrication experience
  • Welding certifications (AWS, NCCER, etc.)
  • Experience with grinders, torches, and fabrication tools
5 Qualifying Questions
  1. How many years of GMAW short arc welding experience do you have?
  2. Have you worked in a shipyard or marine environment?
  3. Can you read blueprints and weld symbols?
  4. Are you able to pass a hands-on weld test?
  5. Are you comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors?
