First Class Aluminum Welder

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled First Class Aluminum Welder with extensive marine experience to perform structural and fabrication welding on aluminum vessels and components. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced welding proficiency, blueprint comprehension, and the ability to produce high-quality welds that meet shipyard, ABS, and military specifications.

Location: LOCKPORT, LA
Pay rate: $28-$30/HR


REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years of aluminum welding experience in a marine or shipyard environment

• Must qualify and maintain First Class aluminum welding certifications per company and client standards

• Proficient in GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes on aluminum

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications

• Experience welding various aluminum alloys and thicknesses

• Ability to work in confined spaces , at elevated heights , and in various positions (flat, vertical, overhead)

• Must be able to wear respiratory protection and PPE as required

• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity

SKILLS

• Advanced aluminum welding techniques with consistent, high-quality weld appearance

• Strong understanding of heat control, distortion prevention, and joint preparation

• Ability to set up welding equipment, select proper consumables, and adjust parameters

• Skilled in fit-up, tack welding, and final weld execution

• Attention to detail with ability to meet tight tolerances

• Capable of working independently or leading less experienced welders

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform First Class aluminum welding on structural components, foundations, bulkheads, decks, and vessel assemblies

• Weld aluminum plate, pipe, and extrusions in accordance with blueprints and weld procedures

• Ensure welds meet visual, dimensional, and quality standards

• Prepare materials by cleaning, fitting, and aligning components prior to welding

• Inspect completed welds and make repairs as necessary

• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and marine regulations

• Coordinate with shipfitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel

• Maintain welding equipment and work areas in safe, clean condition

• Mentor and assist junior welders when required
