Clinical Coordinator II/RN

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Clinical Coordinator II / Registered Nurse (RN). Reporting to the Division Chief and Division Administrator the ideal incumbent will work alongside physicians providing patient care, health education and promotion, electronic medical record (EMR) management, and coordination of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Support ongoing clinical operations to ensure efficient, compassionate, and patient-centered care delivery.
• Collect and document patient health information, histories, vital signs, and clinical data accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system under physician direction.
• Review medical records to determine appropriate visit
• Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures.
• Conduct patient interviews and assessments, including providing pre-operative instructions and preparation guidance.
• Create and pend orders in EMR (e.g. radiology, lab orders)
• Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, symptom management, medications, and follow-up care plans.
• Perform clinical duties including venipuncture, injections, specimen collection, preparation, and processing.
• Ensure all clinical competencies and responsibilities are completed accurately and in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
• Manage telephone, MyChart, secure messaging, and in-person patient triage while escalating concerns to appropriate clinicians as needed.
• Respond to patient inquiries, in-basket messages, and symptom-related concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and specialty services.
• Complete and process FMLA, disability, and other patient-related documentation forms.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development activities.
• Monitor inventory and ordering of medical equipment, surgical instruments, and clinical supplies.
• Maintain exam rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adequate stocking of necessary supplies and materials.
• Attend staff meetings, patient support meetings, and continuing education programs relevant to the specialty area.
• Collaborate with leadership, including the Division Administrator and Practice Operations Manager, to monitor risk management incidents, medication errors, and patient safety concerns.
• Collaborate with clinical research staff in the conduct of clinical trials.
• Travel between clinical locations as required to support operational needs.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience
• Minimum 2-4 years related experience. Clinical rotation experience associated with BSN degree programs will be applied toward related experience requirements.
• Must have a current New York State Registered Nurse License and maintain and renew as necessary.
• BLS Certified.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous oncology experience.
• Electronic Medical Record experience (Epic Preferred).
