Dental Assistant I

Summary Assists with a variety of health care tasks, from taking dental x-rays and caring for patients, to helping file records and appointment scheduling. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Assists dental hygienists with procedures when necessary. Records treatment information in patient records. Exposes dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and caring for dental x-ray equipment. Gives patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs. Collects and records medical and dental histories, as well as patient vital signs. Provides postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist. Orders dental supplies and maintains dental equipment inventory. Fabricates temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Dental Assistant [State License] - required Basic Life Support [BLS] - required Experience Dental Assistant experience 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Completion of Dental Hygiene Program. Experience using computers for a variety of tasks. Good written and verbal communication skills. Consistently professional appearance and attitude. Able to provide great patient care.
